Checkpoint inhibitors produce long remissions for patients with relapsed Hodgkin lymphoma, and many of these patients go on to receive a bone marrow transplant from a donor. We previously found that patients who got immunotherapy before their transplant had better progression free survival than those who only received traditional chemotherapy, but the study was too small and short to know if it actually helped people live longer. This new study by Dr. Tabbara and Dr. Paul reports the full 5-year survival data to finally answer that question. Study shows that patients that received checkpoint inhibitor before transplant has improved overall survival and low incidence of graft-versus-host disease. Study presented at 2025 ASTCT meeting and published in Blood Advances.
